Awards Committee members vote via email. The male and female nominees who receive the most votes earn the overall "Masters Athlete of the Year" award. The nominees in each age category (see above) who receive the most votes in their respective divisions win age group awards. The individual with the most votes in the Distinguished Service category wins that award; any nominee who gets more than one vote for Distinguished Service receives an honorable mention.
The actual awards are handed to recipients at the follow owing year's annual Athletes Dinner at the National Outdoor Masters Track and Field Championships. The Committee makes a nomination each year to USATF for top Masters Athlete of the Year honors. The committee also maintains an historical archive of past award winners.
